Mathematics
Our aim is to provide a high-quality maths education rooted in the mastery approach, where all children are supported to develop deep understanding, fluency, and reasoning skills. We create a positive learning environment that encourages perseverance, curiosity, and a belief that every child can succeed in mathematics.
We develop a coherent and comprehensive conceptual pathway through mathematics. The focus is on the whole class progressing together and planning is carried out in year groups to ensure consistency across classes. Planning takes into account pupil’s previous experiences and individual needs, and covers all aspects of the curriculum. It seeks to make sure there is continuity and consistency across and between all key stages.
A separate maths key skills session is delivered daily in all year groups which is aimed explicitly at developing fluency with number, number bonds, times tables and the 4 operations.
