Religious Education
Religious Education at Heycroft contributes dynamically to our pupil’s education by provoking challenging questions about meanings and purpose in life, beliefs about God, ultimate reality, issues of right and wrong and what it means to be human within a worldview.
At Heycroft Primary School, R.E. is part of a statutory requirement for all pupils, whatever their ability or special needs; unless they have been withdrawn by their parents from some or all of the R.E. curriculum. The curriculum aims to ensure all pupils learn about a range of religions and worldviews including a non- religious and humanist viewpoint.
Within R.E. they will learn about religions and worldviews in a local, national and global context. Pupils will learn to understand, interpret and evaluate texts, sources of wisdom and authority and other evidence. They will learn to articulate clearly and coherently their personal beliefs, ideas, values and experiences while respecting the right of others to differ.
Parents and carers have the legal right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education lessons. If you wish to exercise this right, please contact the school in writing to discuss your concerns and the process for withdrawal.
We encourage parents to speak with us before making this decision so we can provide further information about the curriculum and support you in making the best choice for your child’s education.
